Katherine McKenzie

Studio and Matwork teacher for Body in Mind ™ Pilates

Katherine originally came across Pilates while studying for a degree in dance at Middlesex University in 1988. The method helped her to overcome injuries and improved her physical confidence. For a few years post study, she was sidetracked by backstage and technical theatre, as well as travel across North America.

After illness and a major operation in 2000, she discovered Pilates at the studio which was then at the Derby Dance Centre, and it helped her regain lost strength and fitness. She finished the two years of teacher training in June 2004. She also teaches mat classes in gyms and halls around Derby, as well as maintaining our connections with classes at the Derby Dance Centre.

Janet Matts

Studio and Matwork teacher for Body in Mind ™ Pilates

Janet trained as a secondary school teacher and pursued this career for over 30 years. In 2000, after a bad bout of sciatica, she came across the Thoughtful Body, in Derby and attended sessions in order to rehabilitate. Not only has the sciatica never returned but she found that Pilates changed both her body and her outlook on life. This contributed to a decision to train in the method.

Since qualification she has taught Pilates in the Derby area, to both groups and individuals, and as well as running her own classes she has been employed by the local authority, Chesterfield Primary Health Care Trust, Derby Dance Centre and various other organisations.
