Having endured three years of debilitating back pain, with both traditional and alternative therapies having limited success, it was suggested I tried Pilates.
I have regularly attended weekly studio sessions since the spring of 2003 and with the skill and patience of the teachers my body has become stronger and my general wellbeing is making steady progress. I come out of my class a new man.
I cannot believe how ignorant I was about my body until I started Pilates; I now have a greater understanding of how the body works both physically and mentally.
Without a doubt this has to be one of the best things I have ever done and really appreciate how lucky I am to have this facility so close to my home as I understand that Clinical Pilates studios are still quite scarce.

The Pilates Studio equipment is unique in helping you to achieve a longer, leaner, more streamlined body shape.
The Pilates Method is a contemporary approach to exercise that unites the mind and body. Using the fundamental principles that underpin all Pilates exercise, studio programmes are created especially for each client’s specific needs and aspirations.
The Pilates studio sessions are conducted on specialised equipment, developed from Joseph Pilates’ original designs, which is custom built for each studio and imported especially from the USA. Classic pieces include: The Reformer, Trapeze Table and Wunda Chair, customised to meet the demands of the modern day workout. The equipment incorporates variable spring resistance which can be altered according to client’s specific exercise needs. Working out with the studio equipment offers greater scope, challenge and specificity for the client, which is why this is such a popular and effective way to work out.
After an initial consultation Body in Mind will create a personalised exercise programme for each individual incorporating those needs. Clients then work with their teacher mastering and developing their programmes on the specialised Pilates equipment in the studio. Sessions are semi-private and clients work with teachers on a maximum of a 1:3 ratio, although private sessions are available. This ensures that each client is able to work efficiently receiving personal attention, detail and individual corrections. Improvement is monitored and programmes are constantly developed according to the client’s progress.
All classes last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. Studio sessions are made by appointment only and 24 hours notice is required for cancellations.
Pilates studio sessions work in a similar way to Personal Training sessions. Based on the individual’s needs and goals, personal exercise programmes are developed and constantly monitored for the client at a reasonable price.
